A Month in Mexico - Excellent Low-Cost Airline

David and I stretched out in our exit row leather seats, readied our headsets for the TV shows that were about to begin, opened a huge complimentary bag of snacks, sipped a free beer, and congratulated ourselves on having found this luxurious airline that offers the best fares to Mexico.

Not only is Volaris about a third of the price of other airlines, but its service is excellent.  They guarantee you will leave and arrive on-time and promise that your luggage will, too. (We did and it did.) In this company that is ranked one of the best 100 companies in Mexico to work for, everyone from the pilot to the gate crew was pleasant.
Since Volaris has only been in the air since 2006, it's planes are new, averaging 3.2 years old.  This means they are nicely outfitted for passengers while also having the lowest CO2 emissions.

But, of course, the best part of this airline is the price.  Their mission is to provide the best low-cost service to Mexico, and they do it beautifully.  Our tickets were one-third the price of any US airline, we were able to buy trip insurance for only $4, and we chose our seat assignments for $8 per person.  We did balk a bit at having to pay for seat assignments, but, since we were saving such a huge amount on the flight itself, we didn't mind paying a little bit extra to guarantee our comfort.

Volaris offers a three-tier ticket pricing system with the lowest tier and the cheapest price permitting only a carry-on bag, and the highest tier offering ample luggage allowances plus ticket changing flexibility.

If you live in the San Francisco, LA, or Southern California area, you will want to check Volaris before making your reservations to any part of Mexico.

For California residents living closest to the border, a shuttle, provided by Volaris for an additional $16 fee,  makes it easy to access the Tijuana Airport.  The shuttle departs from the Greyhound Bus Station in downtown San Diego; provides an expedited lane for walking through customs; and, once you've crossed the border, the shuttle continues to the Tijuana Airport.

If you want to save money and be assured of a delightful flight, I don't think you will be disappointed with this wonderful airline.

Practicalities -
Volaris also offers the lowest-cost flights within Mexico.  Exploring the country by air used to be prohibitively expensive -- Volaris has made it affordable.
